Is there still justification for setting up factories within settlements?

[:he] The establishment of industrial plants began with the establishment of the state, but the years have passed and in light of the increase in demand for residential land, a rethinking is required that includes the development of new industrial spaces. Yair Levy talks about the new industrial spaces as a solution to the increase in demand for land iv_load_policy=3&loop=0&rel=0&showinfo=0&theme=light&disablekb=1″ width=”100%” height=”290″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen=”allowfullscreen”> In recent decades, we hear a lot about the closing of factories in the peripheral settlements, and as a result, the employment problem in these areas increases. This begs the question, is there still justification for establishing factories in small settlements? The establishment of industrial plants within settlements originates from a process that began with the establishment of the state, in which there was a trend to attach an industrial area to each urban settlement in order to provide a source of livelihood for the residents, and to generate income in the form of property taxes for the local authority. In recent decades, the transportation infrastructure has developed all over the country and the possibility of reaching distant workplaces with relative ease has opened up. Mobility mimics the need to find employment “close to home” and with it the economic justification to maintain industrial activity close to the urban area. Today, the trend is to take factories out of the cities and settlements and move them to industrial spaces that are accessible to personnel from many settlements and constitute spatial employment solutions. Their presence away from settlement areas contributes to an increase in the quality of life of the residents, who are less affected by the industrial damage to the environment. And it is also impossible to ignore the fact that the development of settlements and with it the increase in demand for residential land, is pushing the industry out. Therefore, when a factory closes in a settlement, with all the pain involved, the solution is not to establish an alternative factory in the same area, but to take care of the development of alternative industrial areas and the movement of workers to them.  [:]
